FLATWORK – BASEMENT, GARAGES AND INTERIOR

  • Basement Floors

    • Basement floors to be poured a minimum of 3_” thick with 3500 psi test concrete mix and 6 ml poly under slab for vapor and radon protection.

    • Control joints are placed in location where basement floors are likely to crack. Control joints will help to control random cracking, but may not eliminate cracks entirely. The number and location of control joints can vary depending on the size and shape of the slab.

    • Basement floors are machine and hand-troweled to ensure a smooth and level finish.

    • Sub base is always compacted before concrete is placed.

  • Garage Floors

    • Garage floors to be poured with a minimum of 4″ thick with 4000 psi test concrete mix containing fiber mesh reinforcement.

    • Control joints are placed in location where garage floors are likely to crack. Control joints will help to control random cracking, but may not eliminate cracks entirely. The number and location of control joints can vary depending on the size and shape of the slab.

    • Garage floors will have slope from back to front or slope to a central floor drain to allow for proper drainage.

    • Garage door openings have a more significant slope to reduce the risk of water entering the garage from under the garage door.

    • Garage floors are machine and hand-troweled to ensure a smooth and level finish.

    • Sub base is always compacted before concrete is placed.

  • Exterior Concrete

    (Steps, sidewalks, patios, aprons and driveways)

    • All exterior concrete to be poured a minimum of 4″ thick with 4000 psi test concrete mix containing fiber mesh reinforcement. For added strength and durability _” diameter rebar can be added 2′ on center each direction.

    • Control joints are placed in location where exterior concrete is likely to crack. Control joints will help to control random cracking, but may not eliminate cracks entirely. The number and location of control joints can vary depending on the size and shape of the slab.

    • All exterior concrete to be hand-troweled with a light broom texture.
